Meet Dr. Cozart

Ralph Cozart, MD was born in Columbia, South Carolina and finished primary and secondary school in Columbia. He then graduated from the College of Charleston in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston with a Doctor of Medicine degree in 1991. After completing an internship in General Surgery at Carraway Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama, he finished a General Surgery residency at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina.

His Plastic Surgery residency was completed at the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga, a division of the University of Tennessee, Memphis. He had been in private practice in Myrtle Beach since 1998. Collectively, Dr. Cozart has completed thousands of surgical procedures including breast augmentation, breast lift, breast reduction, breast reconstruction, liposuction, body contouring, and facial reconstructive and cosmetic procedures. Besides cosmetic surgery, Dr. Cozart also performs reconstructive procedures on all areas of the body.

He is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the South Carolina Society of Plastic Surgery, and has been certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgeons, Inc. since 1999. He currently maintains his certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgeons, Inc. by continuing education and the completion of his recertification examination, now having completed his second recertification examination in 2019. This examination is required every ten years to maintain his board certification as a minimum standard for excellence in the practice of Plastic Surgery.

He has presented numerous research articles in state and national plastic surgery meetings and has also participated in volunteer medical mission trips to the Dominican Republic and the Republic of Peru. Much of his volunteer work has centered on cleft lip and cleft palate repair in these underdeveloped countries.

Dr. Cozart is also a past president of the South Carolina Society of Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Cozart holds active staff admitting privileges at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, Conway Medical Center, Tidelands Waccamaw Community hospital in Murrells Inlet, and McLeod Seacoast Medical Center in Little River, SC for care of patients who may need emergent and inpatient reconstructive surgery. He also maintains his outpatient surgery center privileges at Cornerstone Surgery Center in Murrells Inlet, and Grande Dunes Surgery Center in Myrtle Beach
