Meet Dr. Blum

Craig Blum, MD, FACS is a double board certified (general surgery and plastic surgery) surgeon that specializes in aesthetic plastic surgery of the face and body at Sweetgrass Plastic Surgery.

A native South Carolinian, Dr. Blum graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of South Carolina (Go Gamecocks). He received his medical training at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) medical honor society. Before plastic surgery, he completed a 6 year residency in general surgery at MUSC. While treating patients who had been disfigured by trauma and cancer he developed a passion for plastic and reconstructive surgery. He moved to New Orleans, LA (Go Saints) to complete 3 additional years of training in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Tulane University (Go Green Wave). After training, he joined the esteemed Center for Restorative Breast Surgery. During his time there he and his team performed well over 1000 reconstructive and cosmetic surgeries with a focus on breast restoration.

Craig Blum, MD, FACS

The complexity of the reconstructive procedures he performed has created a better understanding of the body’s form and function and he uses that knowledge and experience to improve cosmetic surgery outcomes. He has been with Sweetgrass Plastic Surgery since 2018 and in that time he has performed over 1200 surgeries of the body and face.

He has published numerous journal articles in peer-reviewed literature including the Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the Journal of Reconstructive Microsurgery. He has also contributed to multiple book chapters in plastic surgery. He has presented his work across the US as well as internationally, speaking in London, China, Rome, and India.

He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive surgeons and serves as a fellow in the American College of Surgeons. He is happy to be home in Charleston, SC and would be happy to discuss ways we can help you achieve the aesthetic results you’ve always wanted.
