Meet Dr. Blum
Craig Ashley Blum, MD, FACS
A native South Carolinian, Dr. Blum graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of South Carolina. He received his medical training at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He completed his internship and residency in general surgery at MUSC where he developed a passion for plastic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Blum completed a year of laboratory research in cancer genetics at the Hollings Cancer Center and was later chosen to serve as chief resident in general surgery. He moved to New Orleans, LA to complete 3 additional years of training in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Tulane University. It was in New Orleans that Dr. Blum was drawn to breast reconstruction. After training, he joined the esteemed Center for Restorative Breast Surgery. During his time there he and the team performed over 1000 microsurgical reconstructive procedures.
He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and a fellow in the American College of Surgeons. He, his wife Heather, and their two French bulldogs, Juliet and Sookie, are happy to have returned to Charleston SC to be a part of the remarkable team at Sweetgrass Plastic surgery.
