Smartlipo is a new, minimally invasive body contouring laser procedure clinically known as laser liposys. This amazing procedure can target areas on the arms, abdomen, buttocks, thighs and neck to eliminate stubborn fat that refuses to go away with diet and exercise. Since Smartlipo is minimally invasive and done under local anesthesia, the procedure can usually be done in less than two hours and downtime after the procedure is minimal. Smartlipo is perfect for people who wish to reshape specific areas of the body that have become a regular resting spot for pesky fat deposits.

How does Smartlipo work?

During your Smartlipo treatment, only the area of the body being treated will be numbed using local anesthesia. This means that you’ll be fully awake during the procedure! The fat cells in your skin are destroyed by a laser fiber that is inserted into the skin through a small tube. The three wavelengths administered by the laser ruptures the membrane of the fat cell, completely destroying it. This now liquefied fat is slowly suctioned out while your skin is tightened by the coagulation of blood vessels.

What about after the procedure?

Now’s the exciting part! After the procedure you are able to go about your daily life in as little as a day since Smartlipo requires almost no down time. However, to help fully heal from your Smartlipo procedure, you may be required to wear a compression garment for a short period of time. You may also experience some bruising and swelling which is completely normal. You will likely be able to see results in as little as a week! Remember, even though fat cells in the area of treatment were completely destroyed, it is important to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle.
