Breast Lift or Breast Implants?
Breast lift surgery (mastopexy) restores the breast shape that has been lost due to nursing children, gravity, aging, weight loss or gain and heredity.
In patients who have a significant amount of breast tissue, a breast lift can be performed without the placement of a breast implant. Breast lifts alone will not increase the size of the breasts. If you would like to add volume you will need to add implants. 
If a patient wants to increase their breast size or create fuller breasts to improve cleavage, breast augmentation can be combined with the mastopexy. The implant may be placed at the same time as the breast lift or they may be placed post-surgery, up to three months after the initial lift. Recovery time is between 5 to 10 days.
Breast augmentation is the surgical placement of either a saline or a silicone breast implants in an effort to increase breast fullness or to correct breast asymmetry. Clinically referred to as augmentation mammaplasty, breast augmentation is a cosmetic procedure used to:
- Enlarge a naturally small breast, most commonly the result of heredity (micromastia)
- Restore breast volume lost following pregnancy, as a result of breast-feeding or due to weight loss
- Achieve better symmetry when breasts are moderately disproportionate in size and shape
