What Is XEOMIN®?
Searching for a way to revitalize your face? If you are an adult with frown lines between the eyes or wrinkles on your forehead, then XEOMIN® may be right for you. XEOMIN®, also known as incobotulinumtoxin, is a prescription medication used by Dr. Schimpf in facial aesthetics to help improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between your eyes and other areas of your face. Already approved by the FDA for use in adults with cervical dystonia and blepharospasm, it is now used to treat those unwanted lines and wrinkles on your face.
Benefits of XEOMIN®
XEOMIN® has the ability to smooth out and relax wrinkles between the eyes, beside the eyes, and on your forehead. It has also been proven to prevent these lines from etching deeper into your skin and from developing new ones. Other benefits include:
- XEOMIN® is “naked”, meaning there are no additives which may lessen your likelihood of developing antibodies to it, reducing the possibility of it not having its desired effect
- May diminish tension and migraine headaches
- Quick in-office treatment that you could have done during your lunch break
- Reduces excessive sweating in selected areas for hyperhidrosis
What Is the Procedure for XEOMIN®?
During the treatment, Dr. Schimpf may use a topical anesthetic or a cold pack to reduce any discomfort. He will then inject XEOMIN® into the muscles in your forehead or other parts of your face. The procedure will usually take about 10 to 20 minutes depending on number of injection sites. Following the quick in-office procedure, patients can resume normal daily activities with no recovery period necessary. You can expect a little redness around the injection sites, but that will clear up quickly and can be covered with makeup in the meantime. You should start to see results within three to seven days. However, the best results are seen after two weeks. You can keep the results of XEOMIN® going with occasional follow-up treatments.
Who is a Candidate for XEOMIN®?
Candidates for XEOMIN® have facial muscle-related wrinkles, as it is classified as a “neuromodulator,” i.e., a drug that relaxes targeted facial muscles. When your muscles contract, it causes the skin to wrinkle. By simply injecting XEOMIN® into the muscles, your muscles are able to relax, taking away the wrinkles. The effects can last for three to four months and can be maintained with occasional follow-up treatments. By maintaining treatments, you will not have to experience a reversal of the effects.
What is the Cost of XEOMIN®?
The price of XEOMIN® is determined on a case-by-case basis, depending on the number of injections needed for each person. As a result, the total cost of your Sweetgrass Plastic Surgery Xeomin® treatment will vary based upon how much treatment is required. During your consultation with Dr. Schimpf, we will develop a personalized treatment plan, and you will be informed of your treatment costs and methods of payment. We are happy to accept cash, personal checks, and credit cards. Financing is also available so that our Xeomin® treatments are affordable to all of our patients.
